I am light, but also darkness.
I am good, but also evil.
I am the mask I wear, but also shadow to myself.
I am who I think I am, but I also am who I truly am.
I am whole.
Navigating the world is a difficult task, so humans naturally tend to emphasize the good in their dual nature, carefully curating the who they project and the way they interact with the world. But they are not what they think they are [even if they came to genuinely believe it] and they are not what they want the world to see, but a rather complex structure in which both accepted and disowned aspects of their personalities coalesce.
Understanding the relationship between these is key to acquiring a good sense of their true selves, which doesn’t make one less desirable, less beautiful, less worth loving, but represents the path to a more authentic person and further individual development.
The pieces of this collection were deliberately constructed on contrasts [colours, materials, textures] and are meant to be seen as a symbol of the complete integration of both positive and negative personality traits in a new but equally beautiful self, one embracing confidence, inner growth and individuality. They can also serve as a physical reminder of one’s journey towards wholeness and self acceptance.
Materials: porcelain, electroformed copper, stainless steel, silver.
